Meet Matt
Battle-Tested Experience. Unwavering Advocacy.
I started my career at Jenner & Block as a trial lawyer, where I handled complex litigation early on. I later moved into senior in-house roles, including leading global litigation for a public company.
I’ve seen legal problems from both sides—outside counsel and inside the business. I’ve been the lawyer handling the case and the executive deciding how the company responds to it. That perspective shapes how I approach every matter.
Most legal issues don’t require more lawyers—they require better judgment. I focus on what actually matters: outcomes, efficiency, and clear thinking under pressure.
I represent a limited number of clients in complex disputes and strategic matters where experience makes a difference. Clients work directly with me. There are no layers, no handoffs, and no unnecessary process.
Experience
Trained at Jenner & Block, I represented clients in complex litigation and developed my foundation as a trial lawyer, gaining early courtroom experience and working on significant matters.
I later moved into boutique practice, where I handled a wide range of business disputes, including commercial litigation and other high-stakes matters.
Over the course of my practice, I have tried cases involving business disputes, insurance coverage, personal injury, and wrongful death, including winning a record verdict in Mercer County, Illinois.
I then transitioned in-house, where I held senior legal roles, including leading global litigation for a public company. Those roles provided me with an insider's perspective on how companies approach and manage risk and prosecute cases.
Approach
My practice is intentionally focused and selective.
I take on a limited number of matters so that I can be directly involved in every aspect of the representation. Clients have direct access to me, and I remain actively engaged from start to finish.
I focus on:
-
Clear, practical advice
-
Efficient handling of disputes
-
Strategic decision-making grounded in experience
When appropriate, I collaborate with other firms or lawyers to ensure clients have the right resources in place, without unnecessary cost or complexity.
If you are facing a situation where experience and judgment matter, I am available to discuss whether I can help.
